About daadihiye program

Daadihiye is citizen engagement program with a set of interconnected activities that will help us connect communities and policy makers. The program was established by RAAGSAN, a female led social enterprise providing strategic and analytical consulting services across Somalia with aim to connect communities and policymakers. Our work spans policy down to grass-roots levels. We value both an intimate and accurate understanding of people being served by humanitarian and development investments in Somali as well as the policy and program design of investments intended to assist those populations.

our approach

We adopted an all-inclusive approach by providing a channel to harness diverse views and ideas from communities, aggregated them, and engaged with stakeholders to discuss challenges identified and forge a way forward for communities. We used diverse channels to reach both communities and stakeholders in the citizen engagement process. We also utilized an interactive educational approach to engage the traditionally “hard to reach” population.

Field Research

We conduct field research and produce informative policy briefs on the existing social, economic, and environmental challenges to engage and sensitize communities about key issues related to existing policies and programs in Somalia.

Interactive Radio talk shows

We host radio talk shows to disseminate information and receive and discuss feedback with key stakeholders. The program allows the public to call the radio stations to interact with topics, express opinions, and have their voices heard.

Hotline Number

RAAGSAN uses a toll-free hotline managed at our call centre where communities can provide feedback, views, and grievances on access to the services provided by developmental partners and the government.

Dialogue Forums

We host public dialogue forums with key stakeholders, service providers, and government officials to discuss and engage on how to improve service delivery based on feedback from the community engagement process.

Serious conversations with policymakers and practitioners

Our podcast episodes engage policymakers to hold conversations on policy dissemination and discussions on the key findings/issues from the citizen engagement process with communities.

Online Interactive Dashboard

Daadihiye website showcases aggregated data received from the hotline, radio programs and other modes of data collection through an interactive online dashboard. Social media platforms are utilized to spread the word about citizen engagement and provide information on how people can reach and direct their feedback and grievances through the hotline.

Live Online Dashboard

Daadihiye website showcases aggregated data received from the hotline, radio programs, and other modes of data collection through an interactive online dashboard. Social media platforms are utilized to spread the word about citizen engagement and provide information on how people can reach and direct their feedback and grievances through the hotline. Daadihiye is a citizen engagement program with a set of interconnected activities that connect communities and policymakers. The community pilot phase collected the voices of 2609 residents in 17 districts of Mogadishu. The residents engaged 11 university-level locally trained social work interns for two months with a deeper understanding of the local context and adequate skills to document;

  • Citizen needs and challenges
  • Services needed by citizens and who provides these services
  • Interactions between residents and the local government

RAAGSAN documented the findings through the Daadihiye Dashboard, which provides a snapshot of the findings from the different districts within Mogadishu.
